Exciting News! Boxcar will be expanding our luxury bus service to Bergen County, serving the towns of Waldwick, Ho-Ho-Kus, and Ridgewood starting October 11th.

Customers who wish to receive a $100 credit for Boxcar can do so by October 10th by following the instructions at the end of this post. Make sure you download the Boxcar app in the App Store or Google Play to get started.

This is Boxcar’s first geographic expansion in 3 years.  For the past 5 years Boxcar has operated bus service to midtown Manhattan from 9 towns in Morris and Union County and we’re excited to take this step to help serve more of North Jersey.

What makes Boxcar special?

• Designer Route - we drop off all throughout midtown, allowing you a one-seat ride to the East Side.
• Concierge Service - call, text, or email Boxcar with any questions or issues you are having.  If we make a mistake, your ride is on us!
• Membership privileges - discounts on booking, later cancellation, and the ability to book up to 180 days in advance + discounts across the boxcar ecosystem: Including parking, office space, auto detailing, grill cleaning, knife sharpening, and more.
• Reserved seats - We only sell as many tickets on a bus time as there are seats available on a motor coach, so even if it’s a high-demand day your reservation guarantees you a seat - no more standing in the aisle or watching multiple buses pass you by without available seats.
• Timeliness - Our routes are so simple with only 3 AM pickups that there is incredibly rare for any of our buses to arrive even 2 minutes later than scheduled.

Our tickets retail for $24.99, but over 95% of our riders pay only $16.99 through a membership ($29.99/month).  Members save $8 per ticket along with a host of other benefits:

• Book 180 days in advance (vs 5 without a membership)
• Cancel for a full refund 20 minutes before departure (vs 1 hour for non-members)
• Free rides on your birthday
• Ability to see remaining seats on buses
• Discounts on other boxcar services - parking, mobile auto detailing, knife sharpening, bbq grill cleaning, and more!

The Details: Route and Schedule

NJ-Pickup Route:

We know that afternoon/evening work schedules vary, so Boxcar picks up right at train stations in the morning.  That way if you aren’t able to take our return bus you can take the train right back to your car.

NYC Drop Route

Boxcar’s AM route drops off all along 42nd Street and up Madison Ave to 71st Street.  We take bus lanes at the Lincoln Tunnel to help you skip traffic and also use bus lanes in NYC to speed our way across midtown and uptown.

AM Pickup 1

• 6:00 am: Depart Waldwick Train Station (40 Hewson Avenue, Waldwick, NJ)
• 6:05 am: Depart Ho Ho Kus Train Station (60 1st St, Ridgewood, NJ 07450)
• 6:10 am: Depart Ridgewood Train Station (28 N Broad Street, Ridgewood, NJ)
• Arrive NYC with street drop-offs pictured below

AM Pickup 2

How to receive $100 in Boxcar credit

For new customers in Bergen County we are providing $100 in Boxcar credit

1. Download Boxcar from the App Store or Google Play
2. Sign up for a commuter membership here or in the left-hand column of the app
3. This membership costs $29.99 a month and saves you $8 per-ride and allows you to book up to 180 days in advance (vs 5 without), as well as a host of other benefits like later cancellation times and free rides on birthdays.
4. Book at least 1 ride on Boxcar’s Bergen Bullet service between 10/10-10/30

If you complete these steps by 10/15 you will receive a $100 Boxcar credit.  This will fully cover your initial membership + 4-5 Boxcar rides.  If you find Boxcar isn’t your thing you can cancel your membership before the end of the month and not be charged the $29.99 fee again.
