Attention All Late A.M. Meteor Riders
Our 8 A.M. Morris Meteor buses have been late 5-10 minutes multiple times over the past month, which is completely unacceptable. We know that to our customers that every minute is incredibly valuable. We are taking the immediate action, outlined below, to remedy this situation.
We recognize that a significant traffic challenge in our service area is the Rt 78/Rt 24 junction. Our early morning return trips from Manhattan (the 5:35am Meteor for the 8:10am run and the 6:05am for the 8:40am run) often face their greatest challenges at this junction. We diligently monitor this area every morning, in addition to keeping an eye on traffic through Chatham, both of which contribute to the consistent delays you've experienced.
We've decided to make changes to the pickup route exclusively for the 8:10am and 8:40am runs, starting Monday, 10/9. These buses will no longer pick up in Convent Station and will only pick up in Madison and Chatham going forward.
While the bus origination times will remain at 8:10am and 8:40am in our system, we have adapted the arrival times for Madison and Chatham as follows:
8:10am Meteor
- 8:20am: Madison
- 8:21am: Madison & Bruns
- 8:36am: Chatham
8:40am Meteor
- 8:50am: Madison
- 8:51am: Madison & Bruns
- 8:56am: Chatham
For those of you who usually board at Convent Station, we have ample parking available at the newly added Main & Bruns stop, just a short 5-minute drive away. There are 30 spaces available for reservation in this lot, ensuring that you'll find convenient parking spots so all you’ll have to do is park and board your Boxcar bus!
